This is the Privacy Statement and Policy (“Privacy Statement”) of www.ertan.me (the “Site”, “we” or “us”).

We are strongly committed to protecting your privacy and providing a safe online experience as you access and use materials on www.ertan.me (the “Site”), including the Site subscription pages. In addition, information that you submit to the Site in response to an email request for information or other outreach from us will be treated in accordance with this Privacy Statement.

We may, in our discretion, amend this Privacy Statement from time to time. To ensure you are able to remain informed about the information we collect and how we use it, material changes to our statement will be reflected here. This Site may contain links to external sites which are not governed by this Privacy Statement. We do not take responsibility for the privacy practices of any third party sites to which we link. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any such sites before you submit information there.

Your Acceptance of this Privacy Statement

Please read this Privacy Statement carefully. By browsing the Site you agree to be bound by this Privacy Statement.

Information That We Collect and How We Use It

Because we gather certain types of information about and from you, we believe it is important that you understand our collection and use of this information. This Privacy Statement discloses what information we gather, how we use it, how to correct or change it, and what steps we take to safeguard personal information provided to us both online and offline. Please read the complete Privacy Statement below, as well as our Terms of Use and Cookie Policy.

You can visit the Site, read materials, and browse the Site’s contents without giving us any personally identifiable information. In order to provide you with the most efficient and enhanced personalized service and attention, and to accommodate certain requests, which you make, we request information about you in certain circumstances and collect certain information automatically.

We collect personally identifiable information from you in several different ways on the Site (Personally identifiable information means information that can reasonably used to identify you personally, such as your name, username(s), birth date, phone number, billing and shipping address, credit or debit card number, email address, and profile picture). We collect such information when you submit it to us, such as when you make purchases or request information; register for or subscribe to certain products or services; create a profile; participate in a sweepstakes, contest or game; take a survey; use an interactive feature (such as chat); participate in a community forum; request copies of publications; seek additional information regarding our services; register for conferences and other events; or contact customer service. You can choose not to provide certain information, but then you might not be able to take advantage of many of our features. We use the information that you provide for such purposes as responding to your requests, customizing future experiences for you, improving our operations, and communicating with you.

When you access and use the Site, our technology and tools automatically collect and record certain non-personally identifiable information about your use of the Site (including your IP address, your browser type, the make and model of device used to view the Website, location information, and other information relating to your use of the Site, browser or device).

We also use cookies, pixels, web beacons, HTML5 local storage and caching, java script and other similar technologies to collect information about your access of the Site or advertisements and other content served by us or on our behalf on other websites. Cookies are small bits of information that may be placed on your computer by websites you visit, applications you use, or advertisements you view. Cookies alone tell us nothing about who you are, unless you or a third party gives us personally identifiable information, which may then be linked to the data stored in the cookie.

Pixels (or pixel tags, web beacons or clear GIFs) are small blocks of code placed on a web page or application that read and place cookies and transmit certain information, such as a browser or device’s IP address, when and how often the pixel was viewed, an identifier associated with the browser or device, or the type of browser being used. We use cookies to track usage patterns on the Site and to control the display of ads, as well as to offer other functionalities. You can turn off cookies in your browser settings, but that will affect your online experience.

We sometimes aggregate demographic information, and the types of systems and browsers of users for internal purposes, so that we may better understand the Site’s user population, identify subject areas of interest, and determine whether the Site is designed to work with the computer settings of a majority of our visitors. We also may conduct user surveys on the Site or use technologies to provide us with information on a number of areas, such as user identity, user viewing habits, whether or not users found what they were searching for, whether the Site content is relevant to user needs, and the like. We use the information gathered from such surveys to improve the Site, navigation, and overall visitor experience and to provide you with relevant materials.

Any personal information that is provided, such as names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, subject areas of interest, etc., allows us to inform you about updates to the service and to notify you about other products and services offered by us that may be of interest to you. We will not sell, share, or rent or otherwise make available any of that information to other parties, except that we may disclose the information to third parties who perform services on our behalf and have a need to access the information in connection with those services. Any third parties will only process this information to the extent to which and within the limits that the Site itself is permitted to process that data.

How We Might Share Your Information

The third parties with whom we may need to share personal information to help us provide services and products to you and to run the Site include:

  • Our subsidiaries or affiliates;
  • Our third party service providers who process information on our behalf to help run some of our internal business operations including email distribution, order fulfillment, IT services and marketing and events services; and
  • Law enforcement bodies in order to comply with any legal obligation or court order.

Because the Site’s third party service providers are global organizations, we need to transfer personal information, which is collected on the Site or through other means to third parties located in different countries around the world, including outside of the European Economic Area (“EEA”). These arrangements may involve your personal information being located in various countries around the world (e.g. USA) where privacy laws differ. We only make these arrangements or transfers where we are satisfied that adequate levels of protection are in place to protect information held in that country. In addition, the Site may be viewed and accessed anywhere in the world, including countries that may not have laws regulating the use and transfer of personally identifiable information. By using the Site, submitting information through the Site, or submitting personal information to us through other means, you voluntarily consent to such international transfer and hosting of such information to those countries and parties.

Marketing

From time to time, we may send you information regarding services, publications, products and events that we perceive may be of interest to you or your business. You may receive this information by hard copy mailing or email. If, at any time, you prefer not to receive further communications from us in any or all forms (except in connection with information, products, publications, events or services that you specifically request), you will have the ability to unsubscribe from such communications by means of a link provided in every email that is sent to you by us.

Furthermore, we use collected information to serve relevant, customized advertising to you. Such advertising (and analysis of advertising) may be conducted by us or third parties. Your information may be shared with third parties for advertising delivery, contextual advertising and reporting on such advertising. Generally, these third parties do not have the right to use this information beyond the scope needed to execute or support advertising.

Some advertisers and services we use to deliver advertising may be engaging in online behavioral advertising and interest-based advertising. You can read more about online behavioral, interest-based advertising, and related practices here:

We may collect email addresses at the point of subscription from users who wish to receive email notification of publications and alerts in identified subject areas of interest, and/or those who send us email messages or express interest regarding our services or products, or register for conferences and other events. We will not, however, share any email addresses with any third party or send unsolicited email to any of the addresses we collect.
